Multiple pathways have been proposed to explain the link between trauma and substance abuse. A review of these theories demonstrates that the road connecting these disorders runs both ways: trauma increases the risk of developing substance abuse, and substance abuse increases the likelihood that one will experience trauma. Trauma is a primary risk factor for substance abuse
This 2-hour training provides an overview of the relationship between trauma and substance abuse. Participants will also learn practical strategies for a trauma-informed approach to substance abuse treatment.
*licensed social workers who complete this training will receive 2 CE contact hours
