Beyond Blue: An Inclusive Overview of Depressive Disorders

Beyond Blue: An Inclusive Overview of Depressive Disorders

If left up to popular culture and the mass media, most people would believe that there's only one type of depression. However, there are many types of depressive disorders. Although there are many similarities among them, they also have distinct symptoms and presentations that clinicians and service providers need to be aware of in order to make the appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.

In this live webinar you will learn the distinctions between the depressive disorders in the DSM-5. More importantly, we will discuss the importance of diagnosticians adopting a lens that is inclusive of our clients' racial, gender, sexual, economic, religious and cultural identities.

To that end, we will engage in a few interactive activities that will enhance your understanding of how the same symptoms can show up differently among people of various identities.

CE Webinar: Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care is an organizational structure and treatment framework that involves understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of all types of trauma. Trauma-Informed Care also emphasizes physical, psychological and emotional safety for both consumers and providers in a socio-cultural context.

Becoming “trauma-informed” means recognizing that people often have many different types of trauma in their lives. People who have been traumatized need support and understanding from those around them. Often, trauma survivors can be re-traumatized by well-meaning caregivers and community service providers.

This webinar provides a foundational knowledge about trauma and the needs of trauma survivors with a specific focus on stabilization. Participants will develop the necessary skills to work with trauma survivors in an inclusive trauma-informed approach.

Finally, participants- regardless of their role within the organization- will be able to view agency systems and clients through a new trauma-informed perspective and implement strategies, policies and protocols to create and maintain a trauma-informed organization.

Reiki Level 1 Workshop

8 CEs for Licensed Social Workers

Reiki is a life force, subtle energy that works through the energy field that surrounds and flows through the body. A person is healthier when energy flows freely through his/her energy field. Energy can become blocked because of symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and thought distortions.

These blockages can cause or contribute to unhealthy physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Reiki removes blockages and helps to create a healthy flow of energy, resulting in body and mind homeostasis which can promote clarity and spiritual growth.
