About the event
This foundational course offers a real-world, systems-informed blueprint for understanding what the 63 Million family CareGivers are truly up against in America today.
Moving past basic "self-care" talk, we will explore how rigid workplace policies, complex healthcare bureaucracy, and the CareGiver identity gap actively fuel burnout, strain, and depression. You will learn how to map the way CareGiving impacts a person's entire life—across mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial wellness—and practice using Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model and the Liberation Health Triangle through a realistic, intersectional case study.
Whether you are a clinician looking to lift the weight of personal guilt off your individual clients, or a manager, case coordinator, or macro practitioner looking to build more supportive community programs and workplace policies, this course gives you the structural tools needed to drive meaningful change at every level of practice.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
After completing this webinar you will be able to:
Define what a family CareGiver is and what CareGiving labor means, including the difference between daily personal care (ADLs) and household or medical management (IADLs).
Explain how history and economic changes in the United States shifted CareGiving from a shared community effort to an isolated responsibility inside the private home.
Differentiate between CareGiver burden, stress, strain, and burnout, while identifying the distinct stages of the CareGiver identity gap.
Evaluate a complex family CareGiving story by mapping out how a person's surroundings and daily life affect their mental health using Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model.
Deconstruct a CareGiver's struggles using the Liberation Health Triangle to separate their personal grief and guilt from outside institutional and cultural hurdles.
